The Lions are getting closer to a second clash against the Bisons in Baia Mare

Timisoara Saracens will travel again to Baia Mare, this time for the 4th Round of the 2019/20 SuperLiga CEC Bank

This Saturday Timisoara Saracens will play in Baia Mare, for the second time this season, only this time, the Saracens Lions will clash against the Bisons in the 4th Round of the 2019/20 SuperLiga CEC Bank championship.

Timisoara Saracens are currently ranking first in the SuperLiga chart, after having bagged, in the first three SuperLiga rounds, the maximum points available, following their wins over CS Universitatea Cluj (full time score 54-18), Dinamo Bucharest (full time score 52-14) and SCM Gloria Buzau (full time score 38-10). CSM Stiinta Baia Mare are currently ranking third, but they had an off-week in the 3rd SuperLiga round. They have cumulated 9 points from their first two matches, after their wins against ACS Tomitanii Constanta in the 1st round (full time score 42-17) and CSA Steaua Bucharest in the 2nd round (full time score 18-15).

The two teams have clashed against each other once more, this season, in the 2nd round of the Romania Cup 2019/20, also on the „Arena Zimbrilor” Stadium in Baia Mare. Timisoara Saracens have returned then with a win, scoring 22 points to 17.

“This week was not much different from any other week, we still got on with our preparation, our analysis, making sure the players recover well, but also working hard on the training field. Hopefully that will give us our best opportunity to execute on Saturday. We know that Baia Mare will be a tough battle, especially since we are playing away, but it will come down to us doing the basics well: our catch and pass, our one on one tackles and hopefully we can get the results we look for on Saturday. We will have our final run tomorrow before travelling to Baia Mare and our Captain’s Run on Friday, before the game. I am sure the boys are looking forward to the Baia Mare match. As far as the selection goes, we will probably make one or two changes, but mainly, we will concentrate on the players which had more game time together.” (Sosene Anesi, Head Coach)

“Like most games against Baia Mare, this time the forwards will also have an important part to play. Baia Mare has very physical forwards and we will have to play our game and win our balls to get a similar performance to the previous ones. We will try to improve game by game and I think the forwards will have a big say in winning the Saturday match.” (Ulises Gamboa – Forwards Coach)

„Our team performance has improved game by game. On Saturday we will face both a physical and a psychological clash against Baia Mare. I think we are ready for it and we are definitely looking forward to it, because only playing this kind of tough matches we can improve as a group.” (Eugen Căpățînă, Team Captain)

As far as the injuries are concerned, Cătălin Fercu, Ionel Melinte, Marius Iftimiciuc and Horațiu Pungea are still unavailable. Also, Dănuț Jipa has a light ankle injury, from the previous match against SCM Gloria Buzau and it is likely for him to stay in Timisoara this weekend, so as not to risk aggravating the injury. Everyone else is fit and available for selection.

The 4th Round of the 2019/20 SuperLiga CEC Bank against CSM Stiinta Baia Mare will kickoff on Saturday, September 21st 2019, at 17:00, on the „Arena Zimbrilor” Stadium in Baia Mare and it will be broadcasted live on TVR HD.
